We are talking fantasy pirates. Like Jack Sparrow. Actually we are talking old age pirates like Blackbeard. So not actually fantasy.
That said, you don't see modern day pirate wearing this hat do you? That is because they are ruthless Somalians wielding RPGs and AK-47s. Trained and deadly they are.
That said though, old age pirates are just as deadly.
